Writing workshops and facilitation

Off the Shelf workshop
One of my first Creative Life Writing workshops at Off the Shelf 2013

Writing Groups

Since 2020, I have facilitated an online writing group for Sheffield Voices, called The Magic Pen. The group is for anyone with a learning disability or autism, who loves writing, and people from all around the UK are very welcome to join the group. Email info@sheffieldvoices.org.uk if you are interested in joining the group.

I also facilitate an online writing and reminiscence group for Age UK Sheffield, called Reminisce and Revive. This group is open to anyone living with dementia and their carers, relatives, friends and partners. Email me at anne.grange77@gmail.com to join the group.

I also have extensive experience of running creative writing groups in hospitals and care homes, as well as working with service users of mental health charity Rethink.

Workshops

As an Associate of The Writers Workshop, I facilitate many writing workshops through the year – please subscribe for up to date information and news. Regular workshops delivered by me include:

Creative Life Writing

Stand-alone workshops, in person or as an online “hybrid” workshop, with lots of writing exercises to inspire and stimulate you to produce life writing, memoir or autobiographical writing in any form or genre.

Climate Crisis Writers Group

A writers’ group for anyone who is concerned about the world that we live in. We meet on a monthly basis to write together on different themes connected with the planet and climate change, and are working together to find ways of changing minds and finding solutions using our words. Climate Crisis Writers have our own Youtube Channel and Facebook Group and everyone is welcome to be part of it.

Herding Cats Poetry Group

An online poetry group held every two weeks. A chance to share your poems and get feedback and support from other poets. We also share writing prompts, do writing exercises together and look at different forms of poetry. No experience necessary and everyone is welcome. At the moment, the session is running on Thursday evenings – please contact me on anne.grange77@gmail.com for more details.

Residencies and Events

I have extensive experience of facilitating workshops in schools and with community groups, including multi-generational family learning.

For ten years now, I have run storytelling workshops, run a library tent, and taught children how to use manual typewriters in the Children’s Village at Bearded Theory Festival in Derbyshire. In 2019, I even found the time to organise spoken word events at the festival.

If you would like me to facilitate workshops for your organisation, please get in touch.

Children loved learning to use a manual typewriter at Bearded Theory festival in 2022. My library tent is a place for children to have fun exploring a new way of writing, swap books and tell stories.
